There is nothing more classic than the LINCOLN Continental, actually maybe the LINCOLN MKZ. But, in terms of luxury, all 1964 LINCOLN models embodied lavish elegance. One of the traditional models is known to many on Staten Island as the "North River Edition."
An area on the Hudson River close to Staten Island coined the nickname North River years ago. From North River you can see Manhattan. Car shows on Staten Island often show off classic American made cars and trucks.
LINCOLN updated the Continental in 1961 to include a 430 cubic inch V8 into the engine bay. And, by 1963, the Continental was pumped up to 320 horsepower. Throughout the 1960s options for the Continental included air conditioning ($505), speed control ($97), tinted glass ($54), AM-FM pushbutton radio ($85), power trunk release ($53), and automatic headlight dimmer ($46).
"Once again LINCOLN proved that it could produce a strikingly beautiful car." As the LINCOLN sales brochure from 1961 stated. It's quite evident that a LINCOLN from any era is filled with luxury, especially those at Laird Noller Topeka in Topeka, Kansas.1
